Nice France Tram T2
When we arrived at the Nice airport earlier this week after our flight from New York, we thought it might be difficult to find the tram T2 line, get a ticket, and ride the tram towards Nice city. We were wrong, wrong wrong.
After walking out of customs/immigration, we turned to the right and walked towards a ticket window. It had a picture of parking, trains, buses and trams on it, so we thought that we had to get our tickets there. The nice lady who worked there said to just walk outside and use the machine to get our tickets. The tram stop was right outside of Terminal 2.

Here is the real tram ticket machine. We bought 2 solo tickets for €1.5 each. REMEMBER TO HAVE COINS. This is very important because the machine did not take euro paper. In other words, coins or credit cards only.

Once you get the tickets, they look like this. After that, its time to ride the tram.

Although they don’t have this posted anywhere, you need to validate the ticket on the machines that are located just inside the doors on the tram. Just put your ticket arrow facing down into the red slot and it spits it back out validated. Failure to validate the ticket can lead to a fine of €30, not having a ticket at all may lead to a fine of €90. Inspectors randomly check tickets, and I saw this during one of my rides. I saw two inspectors come on the tram and start asking to see tickets. One person had no validated ticket and they asked for his ID and he received a fine.

The inside of the tram is very clean and comfortable. The trip to Magnan took about 15 minutes.
Very clean

There are signs up above the seats on the side of the car showing the stops and also a digital display board saying which is the next stop.

Once we got off the tram at Magnan, we had to walk to our apartment as Magnan is currently the last stop on Line 2. We didn’t take a taxi as we didn’t see any taxis nearby and we wanted to discover the city on foot. They are working on more tram stops, and the next time we visit, we’re hoping to be able to ride the tram all the way to Nice Port, which will be the final stop of Tram Line 2 – the construction of which is the subject of my next blog. Stay tuned!
